Obituary

David Langley Kaylor, 62, of Roanoke, Va., made the journey to his heavenly reward on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

He was born in Radford, Va., on November 23, 1956, to the late Bernard Leonidas Kaylor and Barbara Ann Goodwin Kaylor.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his fiancée and life companion of 23 years, Linda Whitsett; beloved daughter, Langley Ann Kaylor Hayman and husband, Brian; three grandsons, Antonio David, Liam Kaylor, and Tucker Jakob; brother, Stephen Kaylor and wife, Trish; and nephew, John Matthew.

David served proudly as a Lieutenant with the Salem Fire Department until his retirement. He was a member of Taylor Masonic Lodge No. 23, AF & AM, Salem, Va. David and Linda enjoyed spending time at their Smith Mountain Lake home and entertaining family and friends. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandsons fishing, boating, playing sports, and cheering on his West Virginia Mountaineers.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturday, September 28, 2019 at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem and again from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, Tuesday October 1, 2019 with a memorial service beginning at 6:30 PM. The Rev Reed Brown will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to his grandchildren’s school PTA, G.W.Carver PTA 6 East 4th Street Salem, VA 24153 (Checks Only).
