Paul Huffman

Paul Joseph Huffman, 56, of Roanoke, went home to be with Jesus Christ Monday, February 3, 2014. He was preceded by his grandparents, Ora and Marie Huffman and Walter and Mary Shadwell. Paul attended Virginia Tech and graduated from the MCV-VCU School of Pharmacy. He retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center and for the last ten years had worked as a pharmacist at the Friendship Retirement Community.

Paul will be best remembered by his beautiful singing voice, infectious smile and serving spirit. He lived life to the fullest especially after being blessed with a heart transplant on July 18, 2011. His most passionate desire was to proclaim the saving grace of Jesus Christ and to love others in that light.

Surviving are his loving wife, Vicki Huffman; sons, Seth Huffman of St. Louis, Missouri, Luke Huffman of Roanoke; parents, Joe and Venetia Huffman of Moneta; brother, Robert Huffman and wife Nancy Abney of Birmingham, Alabama; sister, Tina Osborne and husband Butch of Roanoke; nephews, Will Osborne and wife Leah, Zac Osborne and wife Jessica all of Roanoke; mother-in-law, Barbara H. Giles of Roanoke; father-in-law Jim Leighton and wife Janet of Williamsburg; special friend and caregiver, Michael Lancaster; special furry companion, Lucy and friends too numerous to mention.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, the Rescue Mission or to First Baptist Church Roanoke.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, in the Faith Chapel of First Baptist Church, 515 Third Street, by Dr. Bryan Smith. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow in Phelps Hall also at First Baptist Church.
